The Promise of Jenny Jones

The Promise of Jenny Jones - Maggie Osborne
3.5 stars. Would be my first Maggie Osborne book but not my last. Can't say I had any complaint about the author's writing style, but I couldn't connect with either Jenny or Ty... not even Graciela. Neither did I like the smothering Mexican weather that the author so brilliantly depicted. I felt like drinking water every couple of mins. as I read on pages after pages of Jenny and Graciela's long, hellish journey from Mexico to San Francisco. :/ Felt pretty disappointed, that is until the last couple of chapters. Those were simply beautiful.

Worth reading just for Jenny's transformation from a tough-living tomboy to a real woman brimming full of love. Just don't mix her up with the typical dainty feminine heroine.
